The boys track team came from behind and secured a playoff-clinching win against Waynesburg 76-74 and Beth Center 117-25.
Carter Kent led the way, having a hand in 3 first-place finishes that accounted for 18 of the boys' points. He won the 800 meter run and the 3200. He also ran as part of the winning 4x800 relay team (along with teammates Niamh McClaflin, Lorenzo Longo, and Xander Kadash) and took 2nd place in the 400.
Other event winners include:
Lee Qualk - 100 meter dash and long jump.
Fred Sherman - Javelin
Christian Ross - Triple Jump
Niamh McClaflin - 1600
The boys are now 6-0 on the season and in sole possession of 1st place with one section meet to go. They have clinched a playoff spot with this win.
The girls track team beat Beth Center 95-37 but fell to Waynesburg 88-61, suffering their 1st loss. They are now 5-1.
Event winners include:
Ella Neil - High Jump and Triple Jump
Rakiyah Porter - 100 High Hurdles
Morgan Ross - 100 meter dash
Raegan Gillen - 200 meter dash
Haley Gibson - Shot Put
Both teams will wrap up section competition against Brownsville on Monday.
If the girls win they will also lock up a playoff spot.
The teams will also compete in the Washington-Greene County Championships at Peters Township football stadium on Saturday. The boys are the defending Class AA County Champions.
