The Middle School track team had an outstanding day in their first season meet. 9 school records were broken. Track Team Wins 33 Medals at Section 6-AA Championships
The Trojans had an impressive showing at the Section 6-AA Track & Field Championships held at Trojan Stadium, earning a total of 33 medals, including 9 golds and 13 silvers.Ella Neil captured two gold medals in the triple jump (34’9”) and long jump (15’11.5”), along with a silver in the high jump (5’0.5”).Carter Kent earned two golds, winning the 800 meters (2:14.51) and the 1600 meters (4:44.20)Morgan Ross claimed gold in the 100 meters (13.14) and a silver in the 4x100 meter relay alongside Ella Fike, Lauren Hartley, and Addison Frank.Ella Fike also won silver in the 300-meter hurdles (54.17).Niamh McClaflin took gold in the 3200 meters (11:14.2) and silver in the 1600 meters (4:46.64).Lee Qualk brought home gold in the long jump (21’5”), silver in the 100 meters (11.23), and silver in the 4x100 relay (45.45) with teammates Gerald Williams, Alan Dennis, and Christian Ross.Ross also earned silver in the triple jump (40’5.5”) and set a new school record with a gold medal in the jav

Kent Breaks School Record in the 800
Carter Kent, grade 10, broke his own school record late Thursday evening at the Butler Invitational. Carter's time of 2:00.05 seconds bested his previous record by 0.4 seconds. Running against many of the top runners in Western PA, from all classifications, Carter finished 19th out of 106 boys in that event. Congratulations , Carter!

The boys' track team earned an impressive second-place finish out of 15 teams at the Chartiers-Houston Invitational, while the girls' team placed fourth overall. Lee Qualk was named the boys' overall MVP of the meet, and Ella Neil received the girls' field event MVP award.Lee set two school records: He took 1st place in the boys' long jump with a leap of 22'5", which also set a new meet record, and anchored the 4x400 relay team to a school-record time of 3:41.17. He was joined in the relay by Adin Keyes, Carter Kent, and Niamh McClaflin, and the team finished 1st in the event. Girls Track Team Clinches Section Championship
The girls' team, depleted by injuries and illnesses, managed to defeat Waynesburg in a meet that ended in a tie 73-73, but won the tie-breaker with more 1st place finishes. However, they fell to a deeper Bentworth team 72-60. The girls finished tied with Brownsville in the section with identical 6-1 records, but win the tiebreaker because we beat them head-to-head, making the girls team section champions!The girls' 4 x 800 team of Ella Fike, Ella Neil, Lucy Meiss, and Lauren Hartley won with a time of 11:49.3.Ella Neil won three individual jumping events: Triple Jump (31'4.5"), Long Jump (16'1"), and High Jump (5'-0").Morgan Ross won the 100 (13.25) and the 200 (28.68).Ella Fike won the 300 hurdles (54.43).Peyton Sunderman won the discus (83'8").

Boys Track Team Clinches Undefeated Season and Section Championship
The boys' track team swept Waynesburg (82-68) and Berntworth (116-25) to clinch the section championship for the 2nd year in a row. The boys are now 7-0 on the season.The boys' 4 x 800 relay team of Charles Meiss, Quinn Barbero, Niamh McClaflin, and Carter Kent finished 1st (9:30.6) as did the 4 x 100 relay team of Gerald Williams, Alan Dennis, Chris Ross, and Lee Qualk (45.22).Lee Qualk won the long jump (21'4") and the 100 (11.48).Carter Kent won the 800 (2:16.77) and the 1600 (4:58.09).Chris Ross won the triple jump (41'5").Alan Dennis won the 200 (23.60).Andrew Typovsky won the javelin with a new school record throw of 148'5", breaking a record that had stood since 2013!

The weather cleared up just in time for a beautiful evening at Trojan Stadium, where we hosted the inaugural California Twilight Invitational. The boys and girls track teams each opened the season with sweeps to start the year with identical 3-0 records. The boys beat Beth-Center (92-52), Charleroi (80-63), and West Greene (109-13). The girls beat Beth-Center (89-43), Charleroi (97-36) and West Greene (84-35).Also, Ella Neil set a new PR and tied the school high jump record, clearing 5'-3".
